Drag an instance of the invisible_button symbol to the Stage, and center it over the first thumbnail. 13. Choose Control > Enable Simple Buttons to deselect the command, so that buttons aren't active on the Stage. You can see invisible buttons on the Stage, though they won't be visible in the final SWF file. 14. Select the Selection tool, and deselect the instance. 15. Press Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) and drag the instance of the invisible_button symbol over the second box. 16. Deselect the instance, and then repeat step 15 to duplicate the instance for the third green box.   Adding Transparency In Flash, transparency is determined by the alpha value for a symbol or color. Decreasing the alpha value decreases the opacity and increases the amount of transparency. You can change the alpha value for a symbol, or for an individual instance of a symbol. Changing the Alpha Value for an Instance To reduce the opacity for the menu background, you must first convert it to a symbol. 1. In the main Timeline, select frame 1 of the Menu Background layer. 2. Choose Modify > Convert To Symbol. 3. Name the symbol menu_background. 4. Select Graphic for the Type, and click OK. 5. In the Property inspector, select Alpha from the Color menu. 6. Enter 85 for the percentage. [View full size image] Changing the Alpha Value for a Color You'll alter the alpha value for the green color of the preview boxes, making them slightly transparent. First, though, you'll need to separate the green boxes. 1. With the Selection tool, double-click the instance of the preview_boxes symbol to edit it in place. 2. In the preview_boxes Timeline, select frame 1 of the Boxes layer.
